This quickstart walks you through the essential first steps in TyleSoft’s Odoo environment so you can begin working right away. By the end, you’ll know how to log in, move between modules, create your first contact record, and establish a product category structure in Inventory — giving you a solid foundation for everything that follows.
1

Log In to Odoo

Navigate to your Odoo instance URL provided by TyleSoft and enter the username and password included in your onboarding email. If you haven’t received your credentials yet, reach out to your TyleSoft representative before continuing.
2

Navigate to a Module

Once logged in, click the grid icon in the top-left corner of the screen to open the main application menu. From here, select the module you want to work in — for example, Contacts or Inventory — to jump directly into that area of Odoo.
3

Create Your First Contact

Inside the Contacts module, click the Create button in the top-left of the list view. Fill in the contact’s name, set the type to either Individual or Company, and add any relevant details such as email, phone number, or address. When you’re done, click Save to store the record.
4

Set Up Product Categories

In the Inventory module, go to Configuration → Product Categories. Click Create to add a new category, give it a name, and optionally assign a parent category to build out your hierarchy. For larger setups, use the import template to load your full category tree at once rather than creating each entry manually.
For bulk setup, use the Product Category Import Template to load your full category tree at once — saving significant time when migrating or launching with a large product catalog.
